Kayaking New Port Richey Florida

The first thing you notice in the distance is the "fishing shacks" which must have been here a long time to get grandfathered in with a permit.


The grass flats are shallow around this drop. We suggest doing it at high tide as it appears much of this might be dry at low tide.


The morning's full moon flood tide gave us plenty of water. The recent hard rains gave us a tannin color to the flood tide.


We caught a pair of dolphins playing in very shallow water.


They seemed to be taking it easy on a Sunday morning just like we were.


This is the mouth of the Pithlachascotee (Cotee) River so we suggest trying a midweek at this drop.


These dolphins seem oblivious to us watching from up close.


The bigger one rolled over in less than a foot of water and pounded a flipper on the flat water.


The dolphins finally head back out into the Bay after we watch for a half an hour or so.


Pretty large houses are located on the point of the Cotee River. This is a more urban type of paddle.


Some small creek mouths and inlets empty in the Gulf of Mexico at this point.


This was a beautiful clear day off of New Port Richey, Florida


The flood tide today is a foot into the mangroves.


The Egrets seem to be enjoying the water washing tidbits of food up into the shoreline.
